Why should I join D2Care?

If you want to learn about, support, and promote the wonderful relationship we have with our deaf dogs, D2Care is the organization for you! D2Care is a non-profit, member-based organization, so you will have a real say in how it is run.

Have an idea for fundraising? We want to know! Do you want to do some fundraising on your own? We welcome your help, and we'll even assist you in setting it up. Have an idea for the website? Let us know. Want to be on the Board? Just speak up! Any member can run for office. Do you have business experience that you would like to share? Please let us know your area of expertise! Like to publicly display your support of deaf dogs? We will have merchandise to help you! Do you just need a pat on the back telling you it will be okay? You'll get lots of them here!

We want our members to actively support changing the plight of deaf dogs. We want our members to be educated about the real facts surrounding deaf dogs. We want our members to have the best relationship they can have with their deaf dogs. Your membership fees and donations go toward supporting the goals of D2Care.

In addition, your membership entitles you to:

  1. Participate, recruit, and vote for the Board of Directors. Elections are held in odd-numbered years (starting in 2007). Family memberships allow two votes per family. All voters must be 18 years of age and older.
  2. Participate in two membership meetings per year to discuss the activities of the organization. Board members will be available for questions and answers. (Meetings will be via online chat room).
  3. Actively participate in activities related to the D2Care Mission and Objectives We have several committees at present, and all are happy to accept new members.
  4. Receive a Member Discount on all D2Care Merchandise.

Because we feel that Membership Meetings and Elections are a big part of our Membership Benefits, we want to be sure that every Member has an opportunity to participate in at least one during their annual Membership. Our Bylaws state that all Memberships expire on June 30. Our first Membership Meeting takes place in March, and any voting will take place between that Meeting and the next Membership Meeting in May (exact dates are announced each year).

In order to participate, a Member needs to have joined by the last day in February (with dues received by March 15) to be eligible. People who join on or after March 1 will not be eligible during that year, but because we want everyone to have the opportunity for their voice heard, we extend the Membership period for those joining after March 1 until June 30 of the following year.
